Bus Service in Chamonix

Chamonix boasts an extensive bus network that spans the entire length of the valley, from Servoz to Vallorcine, making your car unnecessary once you’ve arrived at the resort.

A regular bus service operates between Les Houches and Le Tour daily throughout the year, with service hours typically running from approximately 07:00 to 20:00.

During the summer months, additional buses are available, some equipped with racks for transporting mountain bikes.

Most buses in Chamonix offer complimentary travel if you possess a valid lift pass or guest card (carte d’hote). Simply enquire with your chalet host to obtain one of these cards.

Rail Service in Chamonix

The Mont Blanc Express offers a breathtaking mountain train journey originating from the French station of St Gervais/Le Fayet. With a dramatic ascent into the Chamonix valley, the route extends through Chamonix and Argentiere, passing beneath the Col des Montets before descending into Martigny, Switzerland. This iconic railway makes significant stops at key destinations within the Chamonix valley and across the Swiss border. Among the notable stations is the bustling hub in the heart of Chamonix, granting access to renowned attractions such as the Aiguille du Midi, the Montenvers tourist train, and the Brevent cable car. Montroc offers a convenient stop for accessing the Tour-Balme cable car, while Le Buet serves as a gateway to the La Poya ski lift, popular among leisure skiers. Vallorcine, the last stop within French territory, provides access to the Tour-Balme area. For those seeking the Emosson Dam, a prominent tourist attraction, disembark at Le Chatelard VS station. Les Marecottes, just before reaching Martigny, boasts attractions including an alpine zoo and a captivating granite-carved swimming pool, making it a favoured stop among travellers.
